Diseases and injuries

The path to an athletic goal is not always easy. But even if you know injuries and diseases can happen, it is particularly frustrating to fall from one injury to another illness and not be able to train fully for a long time.

What seemed like an innocent fall during XC training in December turned out to be more serious in January. contusion of the coccyx. Consequence: I was still allowed to train, but not too strenuous for the back muscles. So only core and leg and arm strength remained. After 2 weeks of relative rest, I seemed to be able to start training again. But then the flu hit firmly. A few days of fever, and afterwards a few weeks of after-effects of the flu. Only since about 2 weeks have I been able to train fully and start pushing the efforts again. Finally.
So the frustration has gradually given way to optimism. I notice from my training data that things are going in the right direction. I have to take good care of myself now so that injury or illness cannot take over. Although you can never control that 100%. And then continue preparing for my first-ever long-distance roller ski race in the autumn. I can't wait.
