I've been busy

My last post on this blog was quite some time ago. No excuses. But at least I haven't been doing nothing. After a rest period at the end of April, I started training again in mid-May. First, I built up slowly with long, easy training sessions. Then I incorporated more and more interval training. This was followed by regular threshold training. And it worked. I feel that my endurance has improved and that I can handle longer, more strenuous efforts with a slightly lower heart rate.

I have done a lot of walking, hiking, roller skiing and strength training. And since the beginning of September, I have also been doing weekly training on the snow again. I think I am currently in my preparation where I should be. And now it's a matter of clocking up a lot of kilometres and incorporating frequent long training sessions. Without neglecting interval training. I notice from my endurance training that I regularly need High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) as well.
There are 15 weeks to go until the Vasaloppet. In the meantime, I also have the Jizerska 50 in the Czech Republic on 1 February as an interim goal. From now on, I will be giving weekly updates on the rest of my preparations. In these updates, I will try to discuss everything I am doing in preparation. Next week: training planning and periodisation. See you next week.
